Russia's Alleged Warning

MYTH
Russian intelligence warned the CIA about the 9/11 hijackers/suicide pilots on 5/31/01

The Isvestia story is incoherent. According to the 9/11 Commission, there were at least 25 or 26 candidate hijackers in the beginning but long before the alleged May 2001 warning the squad was limited to 19. The claim that 2 hijackers were Uzbek radicals is false, as is the claim that all of them were trained on flight simulators in mountains in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

On a related note, Putin's urgent August 2001 warning "in the strongest possible terms" was not actionable intelligence.
